LuLaRoe Shipping Options

Updated 8/31/2018 – The shipping world, especially for LuLaRoe has changed!
Updated Dec 26!  ZenSales no longer has a .15 surcharge on first class packages, making it one of the best deals around for most people.  It also no longer syncs with Bless, but there is a very easy work around that will make you think it is syncing with Bless!

Shipping your LuLa lovelies can be complicated.  I spent all day trying to figure out the best service. Guess what?  There is NO “best service”.   It really comes down to how much you ship, what class you ship the most of, and what features are important to you.

I looked at the following services:

  • LuLaTools/ZenSales
  • Shipping Easy
  • Sonlet/STR Pay Per Label
  • Stamps.com
  • PayPal Shipping
  • Post Office

I’m sure there are other services out there, but these seem to be the most popular options.

First thing – don’t just go to the Post Office.  That is crazy talk right there!  So many less expensive and easier choices!

So, some assumptions:

  • Leggings weigh between 5 and 8 oz and are sent via First Class mail.
  • Priority mail will be going in a Flat Rate Padded envelope.  These hold pretty much the same as a polymailer.
  • Stamps.com will refund your monthly fee if you spend over $500 a month.

So I analyzed how much it would cost to ship various packages with each service.  The amounts here include postage, monthly fee, and label fees (if any) when shipping the indicated number of packages with each service.  I did include the $9.99 monthly fee for Sonlet/STR, because  you will have to pay it to use the service, it just has more features.

LuLaTools/ZenSales has a great set of features that I go into detail in my LuLaTool Review.  Sonlet/STR is a pay as you use label service.  If you are already using Sonlet/STR for it’s great set of features (which are different than all the shipping services – it is an inventory management system that happens to have shipping), and you don’t use a lot of labels each month, Sonlet/STR may be a great fit.

I have had no experience with Stamps.com, but it is on the pricier side.

ZenSales used to be the absolute easiest, and it still is dead simple once you get it set up.  I used it for over a year, and still recommend it as a great choice.  But it no longer has text alerts on inventory, and in my experience, my customers were not always getting their shipping notifications.

I have now moved to Shipping Easy. It syncs directly to Bless with no funky work arounds.  It also has a little bit of a learning curve, but the support at Shipping Easy is great.  They have some video tutorials as well.  The only thing that really frustrated me was setting up my printer.  But once I figured out I had to change my label size inside my printer settings, I was golden.  It also has an optional Customer Marketing add on for $9 a month that is worth it’s weight in gold!  I changed mostly for this add-on.  So if you don’t want the Customer Marketing add on, it may not be that much better (but you want the customer marketing add on.)  Shipping Easy review is in the works!

If you don’t do much shipping at all, and just want bottom line cheap – go with PayPal.  Not very convenient, but it works.  I would not want to ship every day with it though.

But please – stay out of the Post Office!

  1. Question…on priority flat rate why is paypal more expensive than others? There is no fee to use paypal and I get commercial pricing thru them so 6.50 for a padded flat rate. Flat rate commercial pricing is same across the board…so how does the fee work into your matrix?

    1. Tami says:

PayPal and Stamps.com charge $6.50 per flat rate padded. (Stamps.com may charge some high volume sellers $6.30) Shipping Easy, ZenSales, and Shop the Roe charge $6.30 per flat rate padded (Shipping Easy charges $6.50 for the free less than 50 plan). I’m not sure why there is a difference – but there is. There must be some sort of higher volume pricing that the other services are getting and passing on to customers that PayPal and Stamps.com doesn’t. That is why in the pricing matrix the fees are different between these services.
